The 2024 Jeffrey P. Weinstein Family Law Institute is a comprehensive two-day immersion into all facets of family law practice. The institute promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking event. Bringing together seasoned practitioners, judges, and experts, this year’s program will delve into the evolving landscape of family law. Attendees will benefit from a diverse range of viewpoints. Experienced attorneys will share their insights, while younger practitioners will provide fresh perspectives on ongoing changes within family law. By juxtaposing new ideas with established practices, we aim to foster a dynamic dialogue and attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how these initiatives compare to traditional family law practices. As our community evolves, so does family law. The Institute’s ultimate goal is to provide valuable insights into the ever-changing nature of family law practice.

During the institute, participants will receive expert instruction on a wide range of topics, including learning how to thoroughly review tax returns, understanding the critical information they contain. Together, we will explore the intricacies of corporate returns and gain insights into their components. Our experts will assist in the development of the skills needed to analyze cash flow effectively.  We will have the opportunity to hear from both financial and non-financial experts as well as gaining an understanding of the nuances of trust documents. Finally, we will have active practitioners help us brush up on direct examination and cross-examination techniques and learn how to conduct effective direct and cross-examinations as well as gain proficiency in interpreting complex reports.

In addition, the program will feature round table discussions with a diverse panel of judges. These esteemed jurists will provide guidance on various aspects of family law practice, including:

  • Trial-Level Motion Presentation: How to present motions effectively during trials.
  • Appellate Advocacy: Strategies for arguing appeals.
  • Emergent Appeals: Formulating and handling emergent appeals.
  • Appellate Division Papers: Preparing appropriate appellate division documents.

Whether you’re a seasoned family lawyer with a wealth of trial experience or a newcomer to the field, this institute offers valuable insights. Attendees will benefit from fresh perspectives and ethical considerations related to complex family law issues.

Join us at the 2024 Institute to learn from family law experts and judges who collectively boast over 100,000 hours of actual courtroom experience. It’s an unparalleled opportunity to enhance your practice and engage with the legal community.
