The 2024 Jeffrey P. Weinstein Family Law Institute is a comprehensive two-day immersion into all facets of family law practice. The institute promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking event. Bringing together seasoned practitioners, judges, and experts, this year’s program will delve into the evolving landscape of family law. Attendees will benefit from a diverse range of viewpoints. Experienced attorneys will share their insights, while younger practitioners will provide fresh perspectives on ongoing changes within family law. By juxtaposing new ideas with established practices, we aim to foster a dynamic dialogue and attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how these initiatives compare to traditional family law practices. As our community evolves, so does family law. The Institute’s ultimate goal is to provide valuable insights into the ever-changing nature of family law practice.

During the institute, participants will receive expert instruction on a wide range of topics, including learning how to thoroughly review tax returns, understanding the critical information they contain. Explore the intricacies of corporate returns and gain insights into their components. Develop the skills needed to analyze cash flow effectively. Experts will review both financial and non-financial expert reports as well as gaining an understanding of the nuances of trust documents. Brush up on your direct examination and cross-examination techniques and learn how to conduct effective direct and cross-examinations. Gain proficiency in interpreting complex reports.

In addition, the program will feature round table discussions with a diverse panel of judges. These esteemed jurists will provide guidance on various aspects of family law practice, including:

  • Trial-Level Motion Presentation: How to present motions effectively during trials.
  • Appellate Advocacy: Strategies for arguing appeals.
  • Emergent Appeals: Formulating and handling emergent appeals.
  • Appellate Division Papers: Preparing appropriate appellate division documents.
