Job Description:

Volunteer UP Legal Clinic seeks a mission-driven Staff Attorney to expand our expungement and re-entry practice. The attorney will represent clients seeking to clear criminal records, restore driver’s licenses, and overcome barriers to employment, housing, and education.

Key Responsibilities
● Provide legal advice and representation in expungement and re-entry matters. Re-entry related matters may include municipal court hearings.
● Supervise and support volunteer attorneys handling cases.
● Coordinate and staff community expungement clinics and outreach events.
● Partner with re-entry programs and community organizations.
● Conduct client intake, including assessing for bankruptcy and social security disability eligibility. Manage individual caseload. For those whose needs fall outside the Clinic’s scope (either for in-house or volunteer attorney representation), provide referrals or brief legal advice.
● Deliver community education and training.

Qualifications
● J.D. and admission (or eligibility) to practice law in New Jersey.
● Experience in expungement, criminal defense, or re-entry legal issues preferred.
● Strong legal writing, advocacy, and client communication skills.
● Commitment to racial, social, and economic justice.
● Spanish or bilingual skills a plus.

Details
● Full-time position based in Camden, NJ, with regional travel.
● Some evening/weekend Clinic work required.
● Salary: $75,000–$95,000, commensurate with experience.
