You may have imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is a psychological phenomenon where someone persistently doubts their accomplishments, believing their success is undeserved, even when presented with evidence of their competence. Essentially, it's the feeling that you're not qualified for your achievements and are about to be "found out" as a fake despite external validation. Imposter syndrome can be crippling. It can prevent you from achieving your goals and interfere with mental well-being.
In this thought-provoking, interview style presentation featuring Sheryl Anjanette, author of “The Imposter Lies Within,” you’ll learn how to take the mask off the imposter to understand how imposter syndrome can impact your legal practice and what you can do about it. Learn the framework and holistic methods to not only get through imposter syndrome, but the effective strategies and techniques to deal with it effectively, whether you suffer from it or know colleagues who do. You’ll also learn how imposter syndrome can contribute to burnout and how to ease it.
Topics include:
- What is imposter syndrome?
- The archetypes of imposter syndrome
- How imposter syndrome impacts attorneys and their practices
- Why imposter syndrome may disproportionately impact the legal profession
- Burnout in the legal profession
