Come show off your historical knowledge at Juneteenth Jeopardy. An evening of trivia, celebration and fellowship for the greater New Jersey legal community and beyond.
Enjoy delicious food, refreshing cocktails and energetic music as we commemorate the arrival of Union General Gordon Granger in Galveston, Texas informing the enslaved African Americans of their freedom and that the Civil War had ended.
This momentous occasion – 2 1/2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation -- has been celebrated as Juneteenth, which is a combination of June and 19, for over 150 years. In 2020, New Jersey made Juneteenth a state holiday; in 2021, Juneteenth also became a federal holiday.
