NEW BRUNSWICK – Alexandra V. Gallo was sworn in as Secretary of the New Jersey State Bar Association at its Annual Meeting and Convention.
An experienced litigator and crisis manager, Gallo is a partner at O’Toole Scrivo, LLC, in Cedar Grove, where she maintains a sophisticated chancery and commercial litigation practice, with a focus on business disputes, corporate divorce, and probate and estate litigation. A significant portion of her practice involves emergent and expedited business litigation before the Chancery Courts in New Jersey, where she is routinely appointed in estate, trust, guardianship, and business disputes. Gallo brings extensive litigation and volunteer experience to the NJSBA Executive Committee, having practiced in federal and state trial and appellate courts, as well as in private arbitration.
Gallo has served in numerous leadership positions within the NJSBA, including as co-chair of the Amicus Committee, co-chair of the Meeting Arrangements and Program Committee, and long-time chair of the Equity Jurisprudence Committee. She serves as a trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and has previously served as co-chair of the Task Force on the Future of Legal Services and co-chair of the Judicial Administration Committee, among many other roles.
“A vibrant and active bar association creates and supports the connective tissue between and among the members of our profession. It enhances our professionalism, supports excellence in service to clients and the public, and fortifies our shared responsibility to uphold and protect the rule of law. In more than twenty years of service to the organized bar, my motivations have not changed — they have only deepened. I am honored to serve as Secretary and look forward to helping guide the NJSBA through a rapidly changing legal landscape,” Gallo said.
Gallo is a fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and the recipient of the Peter Perlman Service Award from the Litigation Counsel of America in 2022. In February 2026, Gallo received the Congressman Peter W. Rodino, Jr. Pinnacle Award from Seton Hall University School of Law. In April 2009, she received the Young Lawyers’ Section Achievement Award from the Essex County Bar Association. Gallo regularly lectures at seminars presented by the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the NJSBA, and the Essex County Bar Association on topics including chancery practice, business litigation, women in the profession, and professionalism.
Gallo is a graduate of Villanova University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a concentration in pre-law and a minor in philosophy. She received her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. Following graduation, she served as law clerk to the Hon. R. Benjamin Cohen, P.J. Ch. (Ret.) in Essex County (Ret.). She is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
