ATLANTIC CITY – The former president of the Somerset County Bar Association was sworn in last night as treasurer of the state’s largest association of judges, lawyers and legal professionals.
Jeralyn L. Lawrence is a former trustee of the New Jersey State Bar Association and is on-track to serve as its president in 2022.
“Since day one of my professional career, the NJSBA has played an important role in my life. It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the leadership team of such an active, vibrant and tireless bar association. In my years of involvement, I have been able to witness, firsthand, the importance of relationship building with my fellow members of the bar who share my vision and passion for the law. Together we can be agents for change that will benefit all attorneys,” she said.
Lawrence is a certified matrimonial law attorney and chair of the matrimonial and family law practice at Norris, McLaughlin & Marcus in Bridgewater. Her work includes handling divorce litigation; mediation and arbitration; custody and parenting time issues; alimony and child support; and separation, adoption and domestic partnership matters. She has been a vocal advocate on behalf of the benefits of collaborative law.
Her involvement with the NJSBA is extensive.
In addition to serving as a former trustee, she is a past chair of the association’s Family Law Section and a senior editor of New Jersey Family Lawyer. She is also treasurer of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, has lectured extensively at the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and is a trustee of Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey.
She lives in Watchung with her husband, John, their three children, Abigail, Lawson and Amelia, and two step-children, Kyle and Carson.
