NEW BRUNSWICK – Artistic members of the state’s legal community are invited to submit their works by Oct. 21 for the New Jersey State Bar Foundation’s (NJSBF) Juried Art Show.
The annual statewide competition invites legal professionals to showcase their artistic talent across all visual art mediums, including drawing, photography, sculpting, ceramics and metal or glass work. The winning artwork will be displayed throughout the month of December at the Law Center in New Brunswick for in-person viewing, as well as in an online virtual gallery.
“This is the eleventh year that NJSBF’s Art Show Committee has had the unique opportunity to showcase so many talented members of New Jersey’s legal community and share their extraordinary artistic works in the annual Juried Art Show.” said Susanne Peticolas, who chairs the committee.
“As lawyers, we are accustomed to exercising ‘left brain’ activity—logical, analytical, objective, rational functions. The NJSBF’s annual art show celebrates ‘right’ side of the brain, and explores the subjective, random and intuitive nature of ourselves as expressed by our artists,” Peticolas said.
The deadline to submit the entry form and jpeg images of artwork is Oct. 21 at 5 p.m. The NJSBF will announce the winning artwork on Nov. 4. Works will be displayed from Dec. 1 to Dec. 31.
The contest is open to any lawyer, judge, law student, law professor or other law-related professional. Each artist may submit up to three pieces of art for consideration. The art must be original and created by the person who enters it.
