New Jersey has expansive wage and hour laws. They provide a host of protections for employees, including laws governing qualifications and exemptions for overtime, commissions, methods of wage payment, and recording requirements. There are also has strict rules regarding the classification of independent contractors, and they also provide attorneys’ fees for successful plaintiffs and stiff penalties and fines for non-compliance.
