ATLANTIC CITY — Kimberly A. Yonta was sworn in to serve as treasurer of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA).
The Middlesex County lawyer and former association trustee is on the path to the presidency in 2020.
Yonta, a New Brunswick practitioner who concentrates in criminal trial advocacy and municipal criminal matters, said she was excited to get started, following an election and runoff election.
“I am excited to help lead the NJSBA as it moves forward, make changes for the better, and advocate for the members,” said Yonta. “We are working hard on several issues all with the central mission of improving the lives and practices of attorneys throughout the state.”
Yonta has extensive experience in the association.
She is a former trustee. She is immediate past chair of the Criminal Law Section, and has previously chaired the Lawyers in Transition Committee as well as the Women in the Profession Section and Young Lawyers Division. Yonta is a member of several other state bar groups, including the Amicus, Finance and Operations and Government and Public Sector Lawyers committees; and has served as the association’s representative to the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Model Criminal Jury Charges. This year, she was honored to receive the Solo Small-Firm Lawyer of the Year Award for her work related to lawyers in transition.
Yonta is also active with the Middlesex County Bar Association.
Yonta is married to NJSBA Trustee Craig M. Aronow. They live in East Brunswick with their two daughters Abigail and Madeline.
