Ours is a hard and demanding profession. We have all read the statistics about the incredible number of attorneys who are depressed and anxious and too many of us have friends and colleagues who face these very real challenges every day. It’s no secret that many lawyers are stressed, burnt out and suffer from substance abuse issues.
I reach out today to ask for your help in our effort to help the profession, at-large.
To ease this burden on attorneys, the NJSBA’s Putting Lawyers First Task Force is searching for ways to improve mental health and well-being in the legal profession. We have launched a survey to help the task force assess the wellness state of the profession. All responses are anonymous and will remain confidential.
We know that the more people who complete the survey, the better our data will be and the better sense we will have about what our colleagues need to improve their lives. Please circulate the survey to your members, coworkers and friends so that we can truly measure the pulse of the profession.
Here is a link.
I am grateful to the chairs who have already urged their section, committee and division members to complete the survey and hope we can continue to work together to make a meaningful improvement on the lives of our colleagues. The deadline to complete the survey in Nov. 21, please don’t delay.
