Presented in cooperation with the Jewish Bar Association of New Jersey
While the rise of antisemitism in the United States has steadily risen, it reached alarmingly high rates since the terrorist attack on Jewish Israelis on Oct. 7, 2023, increasing by 700% over the same period last year. College campuses have been hotbeds for antisemitic conduct and in many ways embody the challenges this country faces in protecting Jewish people. What can and should be done to protect Jewish students and what can lawyers do to make a difference?
This seminar will examine the scourge of antisemitism on college campuses. A respected panel will include Rabbi Dr. Mark Goldfeder, director of the National Jewish Advocacy Center, Heidi R. Weintraub of Javerbuam Wurgaft Hicks Kahn Wikstrom & Sinins, PC, and Cory J. Rothbort of Mazie, Slater, Katz & Friedman in Roseland.
The panelists will discuss a variety of issues, including a history of antisemitism on college campuses, actions taken to address antisemitism, the legal obligations of New Jersey academic institutions and legal strategies for combatting antisemitism. Lawyers can learn how to protect Jewish students and prosecute purveyors of hate as classes resume in the fall.
