Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink.

Recent studies have linked certain levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water, otherwise known as “forever chemicals,” with digestive, endocrine, respiratory and throat cancers. Lawyers play a crucial role in ensuring clean water by enforcing environmental laws related to water quality. They advocate for stricter regulations, represent communities affected by water pollution and take legal action against polluters to hold them accountable, essentially acting as guardians of clean water by using the legal system to protect water resources.

Join NJSBA Past President John E. Keefe, Jr., an experienced litigator who has been at the forefront of PFAS litigation, as he leads a panel of attorneys, activists and government officials in a cutting-edge conference on clean water law, regulation and litigation.

The conference begins with a keynote address by New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Shawn LaTourette, who will talk about the current state of clean water litigation and regulation. The day will continue with a primer on the Clean Water Act, a review of the latest in clean water enforcement and permitting developments, suggestions for best practices for prosecuting liability claims related to PFAS and a lively discussion about what to expect in the near future.

Don’t miss this practical, in-depth look at water law, regulation and claims.
