This brand-new seminar will cover key provisions in the Social Security Fairness Act and how to properly advise your tax, estate planning, and divorce clients about the impact on their cases.

The act, signed into law in January, eliminated the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO), increasing Social Security benefits for certain workers, particularly those who receive a pension from a non-covered source. This change affects over 2.8 million individuals.

The WEP and GPO provisions reduced or eliminated the Social Security benefits of people who receive a pension based on work that was not covered by Social Security because they did not pay Social Security taxes. This law increases Social Security benefits for certain types of workers, including some:
  - Teachers, firefighters, and police officers in many states (not teachers in New Jersey).
  - Federal employees covered by the Civil Service Retirement System.
  - Individuals whose work had been covered by a foreign social security system.

Don’t miss the chance to sharpen your practice with the latest updates in Social Security regulations.
