This in-depth program provides a practical and strategic overview of IRS lien processes, financial resolution options, and appeals related to IRS collections, with a special focus on real estate transactions and taxpayer advocacy.
Practitioners will gain essential knowledge and skills to:
- Understand the lifecycle of IRS liens, including lien filings, releases, discharges, and withdrawals, and how to transfer properties encumbered by IRS liens without satisfying the tax debt.
- Navigate the IRS Offer in Compromise (OIC) process, focusing on accurately completing the required financial disclosure packages (Form 433-A(OIC)) and calculating Reasonable Collection Potential (RCP) using the latest rules and forms.
- Assess qualification criteria for Currently Not Collectible status and determine acceptable Installment Agreement levels to advise clients effectively.
- Explore strategies and procedural nuances to prevent the filing of the IRS Notice of Federal Tax Lien (NFTL) or to successfully appeal NFTL filings and levy actions, protecting client assets and rights during IRS collections.
Through real-world case scenarios and hands-on exercises, this program equips practitioners with the tools to confidently manage IRS-related challenges in real estate sales and broader tax collection disputes.
