Judicial ethics and accountability are facing unprecedented national scrutiny, and the stakes are high for practicing attorneys.
This convenient lunchtime webinar will use real-world examples to explore the standards of ethical conduct for judges in New Jersey and at all levels of the judiciary, including the United States Supreme Court. You'll gain valuable insights into where those standards differ, how to identify potential ethics concerns, and what avenues are available for addressing them.
However, judicial accountability is only half of the picture. As an attorney in New Jersey, you will also be held to professional standards that limit how, when, and where you speak about the bench. Drawing on recent matters involving attorneys and sitting judges, the faculty will show you where commentary crosses the line into professional misconduct. Finally, they will address the rising threats against the judiciary and explain what statutes like Daniel's Law will require of you.
You will come away better able to weigh the professional considerations of speaking about judges - and to approach these issues with sound judgment and confidence, in both traditional and digital settings.
