This seminar offers an in-depth analysis of New Jersey’s newly enacted Victim’s Assistance and Survivor Protection Act (VASPA), highlighting its substantive and procedural distinctions from the longstanding Prevention of Domestic Violence Act (PDVA) of 1991. Practitioners will acquire the practical skills necessary to effectively represent clients in VASPA proceedings, including procedures for entering appearances, obtaining discovery, engaging in resolution discussions, and preparing for final hearings.
Our distinguished panel will help you to:
- Understand the circumstances under which VASPA protections apply as compared to PDVA
- Analyze the key legal and procedural differences between Protective Orders under VASPA and Restraining Orders under PDVA
- Identify appropriate initial steps upon client retention in a VASPA matter
- Develop effective case management strategies for VASPA proceedings
- Prepare thoroughly for VASPA hearings to advocate successfully on behalf of clients
Join us to learn how to confidently navigate the evolving landscape of victim protection under New Jersey law.
