Energy Storage Law and Development in New Jersey

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (“BPU”) launched the Garden State Energy Storage Program (“GSESP”) in 2025 and has recently issued incentive awards to develop the first transmission-scale battery storage facilities in the State.  Past BPU Presidents Justice Lee Solomon and Richard Mroz will provide opening remarks, followed by a brief overview of the current law and rules related to energy storage development in New Jersey.  Samantha Williams from Jupiter Power will speak on the current national energy storage policy trends and will provide insight on Jupiter Power’s 200MW “Woods Landing” battery storage facility which is currently being developed in Sayreville, NJ.  Finally,  we have invited a  BPU Staff member to update the section on the current status of energy storage policy in New Jersey and provide an update on the upcoming GSESP Tranche II.

Please note, there will be a networking breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by the CLE presentation beginning at 9:00 a.m.
