Building a Better Business Development Plan

Bring your laptop. Leave with a practical roadmap for growing your practice.

Whether you're just beginning to think intentionally about business development or already have a plan, this workshop is designed to help you become a happier, more effective rainmaker.

Join Judith Bachman, Esq., Secretary of the NJSBA Solo and Small Firm Section and Managing Member of The Bachman Law Firm PLLC, and Jennifer Gillman, author of The Happy Rainmaker and founder of Gillman Strategic Group, for this interactive, hands-on workshop. Together, they will share a practical framework for growing your practice and developing a modern business development plan that you can customize to fit your goals and your life.

No preparation is required. Just bring your laptop and come ready to think about your practice. Judith and Jennifer will provide a business development plan template and guide you through building or updating your own plan during the session. Along the way, they will guide you through evaluating your current business development efforts and identifying what is producing results and what needs to change.

Jennifer will share insights from The Happy Rainmaker and discuss her 6 Pillars to Be(coming) a Happy Rainmaker, a framework that recognizes that sustainable business development is about more than bringing in clients. It is about intentionally developing business while also caring for yourself, setting boundaries, continuously learning, planning for the future, and building a meaningful legacy.

Judith will provide practical strategies, tools, and examples to help you prioritize opportunities, forecast future business development activities, create accountability, and develop a plan that is both realistic and actionable.

Whether you leave with your first business development plan, an updated version of an existing one, or more things to consider, you'll have practical next steps and a framework you can continue to refine as your practice evolves.
