The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has proposed land management rules aiming to guard against coastal and inland flood risks. The rules, expected to go into effect this year, seek to expand the state’s flood maps and increase elevation requirements for new construction in all coastal flood zones, among other measures. While proponents of the proposal hail the rules as necessary to protect against the impacts of a changing climate, critics allege that the proposal has the potential to skyrocket development costs, prohibit the construction of affordable housing in some areas, and detrimentally impact property values.
Join esteemed real estate attorneys F. Bradford Batcha and Stuart J. Lieberman as they unpack the proposed rules, highlighting key issues of concern to real estate practitioners. Don’t miss this timely update with invaluable information that will help you navigate the anticipated changes.
