Atlantic City – The state’s two top jurists will address attendees at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting and Convention tomorrow morning, and a program featuring legislators and legal luminaries will explore how today’s political climate affects judicial independence.
New Jersey Chief Justice Stuart Rabner and U.S. District Court of New Jersey Chief Judge Jerome Simandle will give State-of-the-Judiciary speeches. Remarks begin at 9 a.m. in the theater at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. Reporters and photographers are invited to cover the event.
A panel discussion titled Judicial Independence 2016 will follow as the featured event. The program will include Senator Tom Kean Jr. and Senator Nicholas P. Scutari; American Bar Association President Paulette Brown; former Justice Gary S. Stein; Professor Mark Alexander; and Tom Moran, the editorial page editor of The Star-Ledger. Raymond M. Brown will moderate the program.
The speeches come on the closing day of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting and Convention, which began Wednesday and brings together over 2,700 judges, lawyers, law clerks and other professionals for networking and educational seminars.
