In 2007, the NJSBA Board of Trustees voted to endorse the recommendation of its Judicial Administration Committee calling for the creation of an award to recognize excellence in judicial administration. The Arthur T. Vanderbilt Award for Excellence in Judicial Administration was created to recognize outstanding efforts by individuals in the legal community who assist in fulfilling the mission statements of the NJSBA and that of the Judicial Administration Committee in the area of judicial administration. The recipient may not be a current sitting member of the Judicial Administration Committee. It is not necessary that the recipient be an attorney or NJSBA member (so that judges and court staff may qualify to receive the award).
The NJSBA is currently soliciting nominations for the award. The nominations will be reviewed by the Judicial Administration Committee and recommendations will be made to the NJSBA Board of Trustees, which will select the recipient(s) for 2016. The criteria for nominations are listed on the nomination form.
Members interested in making a nomination should download a nomination form, or contact Denise Sharperson, assistant general counsel/director of diversity initiatives, at [email protected] or 732-937-7504.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m. Nominations may be sent by email to [email protected], faxed to 732-249-2815, or sent by regular mail to NJSBA, One Constitution Square, New Brunswick, NJ 08901, Attention: Denise M. Sharperson.
