The New Jersey State Bar Association celebrates the long-awaited resumption of civil and matrimonial trials in Passaic County. Since July, family and civil litigants in the Passaic Vicinage have lived with the uncertainty of when their matters might finally progress through the justice system. The result has left those in custody, parenting time and child support disputes, along with victims of discrimination, automobile injuries and civil claimants of all kinds, in limbo with no end in sight. Thanks to the significant steps taken by Gov. Phil Murphy and the state Senate in appointing judges to address New Jersey’s judicial vacancies, the courts can finally bring justice to this population of litigants. The Association joins with the Supreme Court in urging the Governor and Senate to fill the remaining judge seats in the Passaic vicinage and in others across the state to avert another spike in Superior Court vacancies.
