The NJSBA strongly urges the state Legislature to reject amendments to S4510 (Lagana)/A5761 (Carter), a bill that clarifies procedures in certain contested child custody cases. Earlier versions of the bill that earned support from the NJSBA reflected broad stakeholder input and consensus. The recent amendments, however, undo much of that agreement and fail to fully address the concerns with New Jersey’s child custody statute. Read more about the NJSBA’s position here.
