Statement from NJSBA President Jeralyn L. Lawrence

The New Jersey State Bar Association is steadfast in its commitment fostering leadership that reflects the important and necessary voices and perspectives of our colleagues.  
    
We are proud of the progress we have made over the last three decades in advancing this foundational belief. Since 1989, when the first at-large seats were created, the Association has seen marked, measurable and significant gains in leadership opportunities for underrepresented segments of the profession. We are grateful for the support many affinity bar associations and other members have publicly expressed about our efforts. 
    
The Association will not relent on the core principle supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in the NJSBA and in New Jersey’s legal community.  As part of that commitment, we will draw upon all of our resources to support and uphold our lawful and successful bona fide affirmative action program.
