The New Jersey Judiciary seeks an experienced Attorney with excellent legal writing, analytical and communication skills to join the Civil Practice Division. The selected individual will report to the Assistant Director, Civil Practice Division.

Note: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties:

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, the selected candidate will:

* Conduct legal research and analysis and draft recommendations on complex legal issues in all areas of civil practice including the Civil Part, Special Civil Part, General Equity and Probate Part dockets
* Prepare memoranda and draft policies and procedures
* Provide staff support to Supreme Court Committees and specialized working groups
* Take a lead role on various projects on behalf of the Assistant Director
* Provide support to various programs and initiatives of the division
* Prepare committee and program reports
* Provide guidance to staff, attorneys and members of the public regarding civil practice
* Provide higher level technical advice and expertise with regard to forms, manuals, kits, and training materials
* Review judicial opinions and legislation and advise the Assistant Director as to its impact on civil practice
* Other work as assigned to accommodate the Civil Practice Division’s workload and organizational needs

Note: Applicants must possess excellent writing skills. Writing samples will be requested for individuals selected to interview.

Salary range is $93,495.46 – $ 129,367.01. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range.

Job Requirements: Graduation from an American Bar Association-approved law school and three (3) years of experience as an Attorney-at-Law performing legal research and analyzing and evaluating legal documents, rules, regulations and/or legislation.

Substitution: One year of experience as a Judicial Law Clerk may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

License: Attorney-at-Law with a plenary license in the State of New Jersey and having Supreme Court Good Standing Status of Active.
