Stuart Teicher, Esq.
CLE Performer and Ethics Educator

Cybersecurity threats targeting attorneys have evolved beyond simple password breaches. Generative artificial intelligence seems to create new ethical challenges every day, while other new technologies present a myriad of ethical landmines. Join professional legal educator Stuart Teicher as he explores how deepfake impersonations, sophisticated phishing schemes, and generative AI issues create specific ethics violations under the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Learning objectives include:

  • Exploring the intersection between cybersecurity, deepfakes, phishing, and supervision (Rule 5.3)
  • Understanding the danger of facial recognition, the cybersecurity issue of imposters, and the need for competence (Rule 1.1)
  • An explanation of the metaverse, and a discussion about how spatial audio could create confidentiality problems (Rule 1.6)
  • The latest issues with generative AI, including transparency (Rule 2.1), the reason for the never-ending issue of hallucinations, and the latest case that conflicts with our confidentiality rules.
