Your MCLE Requirements
Your CLE Requirements Explained
As an attorney in New Jersey, you have to earn (24) credits during your two-year reporting period. Of the (24) credits you earn, (5) need to be in the areas of ethics and/or professionalism, and of those (5) ethics credits, a minimum of (2) must be concentrated in diversity, inclusion, and elimination of bias. 12 credits must be taken by attending in-person courses.
Unless otherwise exempt, every active New Jersey licensed attorney in good standing is required to complete 24 credit hours of continuing legal education every two years. Of those 24 credits, 5 must be in ethics and/or professionalism and at least 2 of the 5 must be in diversity, inclusion & elimination of bias (BCLE Reg. 201:1).
Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Jersey Board on Continuing Legal Education has suspended the live credit requirement. Until further notice, all of your 24 credits may be earned by CLE webcasts, CLE on-demand videos, CLE on CD’s, and CLE MP3 audio seminars.
