Gov. Phil Murphy signed Assembly Bill No. 4250 into law in July 2021. In addition to overhauling New Jersey's existing law governing notaries public, the law – New Jersey Law on Notarial Acts– permanently authorizes New Jersey notaries to conduct in-person notarizations of electronic documents and remote online notarizations of electronic and tangible documents. It effectively replaces a temporary law passed in April 2020 that authorized these types of notarizations to help deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Topics include:
- Key definitions
- Regulations
- Electronic documents
- Remote online notarizations
- Applicability in various situations
- And more!
