Presented in cooperation with the New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Association

Anti-Muslim, anti-Arab, and anti-Palestinian racism incidents on college campuses have spiked amid the Israel-Gaza war. The rise in bias incidents, ranging from verbal harassment to physical violence, has put these communities on edge. What can and should be done to protect students and what can lawyers do to make a difference?

This seminar will cover the need to report and counter bias incidents occurring at colleges and universities throughout the country. Examples of such incidents include the harassment of students who wear the hijab, vandalism of the Center for Islamic Life at Rutgers University and the shooting of three Palestinian-American college students in Vermont.

The panel will include Atiya Aftab of the Center for Islamic Life at Rutgers University, Omar Abuattieh of the Chancellor’s Advisory Board on Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian Life, Professor Sahar Aziz of Rutgers Law School, and Aymen Aboushi of The Aboushi Law Firm, and Saad Admani of the New Jersey Muslim Lawyers Association.
