This program offers a comprehensive overview of the New Jersey Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, a 2024 landmark legislation aimed at extending critical labor protections to domestic workers employed in private households across New Jersey.
Practitioners will learn from our esteemed panel how the law impacts employment relationships involving domestic workers (e.g. nannies, housekeepers, caregivers, and other in-home workers) and will explore best practices for ensuring compliance. The panel will also cover strategies for representing domestic workers in disputes, and how this legislation fits within broader efforts to secure rights for marginalized labor groups.
Topics include:
- Overview of new legal protections and employer obligations
- Who is covered by the legislation
- Enforcement mechanisms and remedies for violations
- Legal strategies for advocating on behalf of domestic workers
