The New Jersey State Bar Association has been a zealous advocate on your behalf in raising issues about the implementation of new filing fees to pay for criminal justice reform and other programs. You can read NJSBA President Thomas H. Prol's recent update on the issue in full here.
The NJSBA is pleased to share with you two important and positive developments. Following discussions and communication between the Administrative Office of the Courts and association, clarifications and updates on several problematic fees were announced last week through notices to the bar.
To read about the clarifications the notices of appearance and substitutions of attorneys, click here. To read the notice setting forth that there should be no fee for an initial copy of a certified judgement of divorce, click here.
The NJSBA is still collecting feedback from our members about specific experiences and concerns about the fees and their implementation.
We remain dedicated to ensuring the needs of our members are resolved.
