NEW BRUNSWICK – Recognizing the need to inform and protect New Jersey attorneys against a constantly evolving stream of cybersecurity issues, the New Jersey State Bar Association has created a Cybersecurity Task Force. The project is a special focus of Robert B. Hille, who will serve as association president for one year, starting Friday.
The task force is being co-chaired by two of New Jersey's top cybersecurity professionals, David Weinstein, who is the state's Chief Technology Officer, and Karen Painter Randall, the chair of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy group at Connell Foley. The task force also includes cybersecurity attorneys, insurance professionals, government officials and security experts.
The group will study the issues facing the profession and proffer information and resources to address pressing cybersecurity and privacy issues facing attorneys, as well as provide recommendations that will help attorneys minimize risk and guide their clients by identifying cost-effective protection strategies and solutions.
The Task Force will launch a new track of educational programming through the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, including an NJSBA Cyber Summit this fall, which will address important legal and ethical cybersecurity issues affecting the practice of law today.
