Certified as a Workers’ Compensation Law Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey, is in private practice in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, and concentrates his practice in the representation of injured workers. With more than 30 years of experience, he has earned a reputation among the Workers’ Compensation bar for being a respected practitioner of integrity and skill. Mr. Baptista has litigated numerous complicated Workers’ Compensation cases, including claims involving accidental injuries, occupational diseases, repetitive motion injuries, total permanent disability and work-related death. He obtained an Appellate Division decision in Medical Diagnostic Association v. Hawruluk, which prevents medical providers from suing injured workers for the payment of medical bills while their Workers Compensation claims are being litigated.

nAdmitted to practice in New Jersey and before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, Mr. Baptista is Vice President of the New Jersey Advisory Council on Safety and Health (NJCOSH) and has been a Judge of the Phillipsburg Municipal Court. Prior to his judicial appointment he served for ten years as Commissioner of the Phillipsburg Housing Authority, which provides safe, sanitary and affordable housing for the areas’ working poor, and which achieved “High Performer” status, HUD’s highest possible rating of a housing authority, for each year he was Commissioner. He is a frequent lecturer for ICLE, where he instructs other lawyers in the handling of Workers’ Compensation claims, and is the author of articles which have appeared in the New Jersey Law Journal.

Celebrezze Appellate Advocacy Competition and the recipient of several other honors. Following law school, he completed a clerkship with the Honorable James M. DeMarzo, Family Part, Morris County, prior to joining the firm.
