We have all heard or read media stories of workplace violence, whether at a small business, Amazon or the US Postal Service. This program will focus on what practical steps attorneys who represent all businesses can take to keep the workplace secure for employees and customers. Our experts will do this through the prism of representing healthcare facilities.
Why healthcare? In late September, 2022, Arkansas authorities confirmed an “active shooter situation” unfolding at St. Vincent Hospital. Unfortunately, this was not a unique occurrence. The number of hospital staff and patients injured or killed yearly has dramatically increased.
Hospitals are soft targets requiring protection. Significant dangers include shooters, disruptive individuals- usually visitors or patients, and patients subjected to various forms of terrorism seeking hospital care. Medical providers are also attractive targets for cyber-attacks, as their computer systems contain valuable information including patient social security numbers, credit card numbers and other personal identifiable information (PHI) that can be sold for large sums of money on the dark web. The same thought process and procedures that will keep a hospital, clinic, outpatient treatment center or doctor’s office safe also apply to your client’s business.
Join experts in hospital safety, medicine and the law for a crucial examination of workplace safety and what attorneys need to know in order to advise their clients. The presenters will discuss three major types of attacks – natural hazards, criminal assaults and cyber-attacks –and provide important practical steps your clients can take to make their business safer.
Don’t miss this insightful and practical program!
