Special Interest Track (Studio 1)

The Casino Law Section addresses hot topics and emerging trends and their impact in the gaming industry. Specifically, the CLE would consist of a panel that would discuss topics of which could include: responsible gaming, cryptocurrency, gambling on the dark web, money laundering, and artificial intelligence. With respect to responsible gaming, the panel would discuss New Jersey’s Responsible Gaming Initiatives as well as New Jersey’s Self-Exclusion Program. Regarding cryptocurrency and gambling on the dark web, the panel would discuss significant concerns that cryptocurrency and the dark web create such as regulatory difficulties, lack of consumer protection, fraud and security concerns, money laundering and tax evasion, and responsible gaming concerns. With respect to artificial intelligence, the panel would discuss how it impacts responsible gaming initiatives, predictive slots, personalized player experience, and fraud detections/security measures. How the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Movement was Modeled on the U.S. Civil Rights Movement, and Why It Failed

Special Interest Track (Studio 4 )

Northern Ireland (NI) civil rights activists opposed to political, religious, and cultural discrimination found inspiration in Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the U.S. civil rights movement. They modeled many of Dr. King's strategies and tactics in challenging the NI government to end housing and employment discrimination, end gerrymandering of electoral districts, institute a one-person one-vote system, disband the Ulster Special Constabulary militia, and repeal the Special Powers Act. The seminar will compare the two movements, highlight the different ways each government responded, and explain why the NI civil rights movement failed.

Since Jan. 20, Institutions of Higher Learning have faced significant uncertainty as a result of recent Executive Orders issued to date that affect transgender student athletics, university Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts, funding of research, and other such activities that implicate critical campus operations, policies and procedures. During this seminar sponsored by the Higher Education Special Committee, we will review the then-current state of affairs, hear from Higher Education professionals and administrators regarding how they are dealing with these ordered changes and their mandates on colleges and universities, and hear from experts on the justiciability of executive orders and how that impacts enforcement. We will also touch upon the broader implications of these orders not only to institutions of higher education but also to any educational institution which receives federal funding.
