For over 150 years, the world’s greatest leaders have been compared to President Abraham Lincoln. Now, 163 years after the Gettysburg Address, the events of that time remain instrumental – and relevant – in teaching attorneys vital lessons about the practice of law and the role of ethics.

This program presents a unique and compelling opportunity to engage with Lincoln, played by renowned Lincoln portrayer Bob Gleason, as he provides fascinating insights into Lincoln as a man, a president and a lawyer. The seminar will include the masterpiece, 272-word Gettysburg Address – which is not only a model of conciseness but is also fertile grounds for a better understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct.

Our legal panel consisting of esteemed judges and an esteemed law professor, Lincoln’s modern-day friends, will tie this dialogue to legal practice today demonstrating the role of the modern-day attorney in advancing Lincoln’s principles. They will examine Lincoln the lawyer, Lincoln the commander in chief and Lincoln’s relationship with the U.S. Supreme Court of his time in an effort to gain insights into this historic lawyer known for his strength, ethics and integrity. As an attendee, you’ll witness history come to life as you glean lessons from the 19th century president that you can put to use in your 21st century legal practice.
