Family law cases involving non-citizens present unique challenges for matrimonial lawyers. Unlike divorces, which are governed by state statutes and case law, issues as to an individual’s immigration status are governed by federal statutes and case law. Of course, not all family law cases are the same. If your client is involved in a divorce, a custody dispute or a domestic violence case, it is vital to understand the interplay between family law and immigration law and all the nuances that entails.

Join experienced practitioners for a lunchtime webinar that will give you the information family law practitioners need to know about immigration. The program will include a primer on federal immigration terms, the effect of visa status on financial support, what happens to an immigrant spouse who is divorcing someone with an employment-based visa, custody issues and domestic violence issues.
